Jetpack Cat – Epic Monsters, Guns and Combat Reviews

Concept seems fun, incredibly laggy
I’m not sure if there was something wrong with my computer or something, but when I picked up this modpack to play (I was kind of excited about playing it) and created a new world it was incredibly laggy. Dangerous mobs spawn very commonly, and I was killed upon spawning in without time to react, partly due to low framerate. While I do appreciate the idea of community-made textures, I can’t say I liked many of them. I eventually decided to play a different pack.
Overall, the concept seemed cool, but I think it’d be better for people who are fans of first-person shooters and have actual gaming PCs.

A unique and fun experience
After beating the final boss, I wanted to write about my experience a bit. I played on a server and stopped before delving into mekanism and the twilight forest.
Gameplay:
What a breath of fresh air! I never thought gunplay could be fun and actually decent in Minecraft. It’s really enjoyable how this modpack doesn’t hold back with the sheer number of mobs to send your way, not to mention the DOOM Eternal-like approach of mobs dropping ammo and supplies so you basically just have infinite ammo. Giving the player a ton of movement options was a great decision too. It’s incredibly fun to fly through the air and parkour while mowing down mobs. The gun selection is decent, the customization is cool, lots of different ways to customize your build with trinkets, curios, etc. I was pretty disappointed with the lack of content in pretty much all dimensions however. Not entirely sure why this modpack has Create either, we barely touched Create in our playthrough so it just felt out of place for a run and gun modpack like this. Putting mekanism at the end of the pack felt strange too, what was the point of it if we already beat progression other than for jetpacks? Does this pack really need tech at all? Why not just fully lean into the run and gun adventure fantasy? That and a couple other weird design decisions left me puzzled (where the heck is WAILA or some version of it??)
Aesthetics:
This modpack’s aesthetics and brand is so incredibly polished. Bravo for all the work put into it from the main menu, to the AI voice, it’s all so cool! Really loved how meme-y this pack is as well. Some of the mob textures and voice lines are hilarious!
Performance & Stability:
We had a couple hiccups with performance. The server struggled hard when there were 5+ of us on a server, mainly when we were in different dimensions. I supposed that’s to be expected, but it really became unplayable at a time so I have to mention it. Surprisingly the performance improved as we continued playing. In terms of stability, I didn’t come across any crashes or major issues!
Overall:
If you want to play something different, check out this pack! It does feel unfinished, so I’m excited to see any future updates. (also try out trepidation if you liked this!)

As fresh as it is crazy
Before Jetpack, I’d never even heard of the run and gun genre. But now it’s one of my favorite. Constantly bouncing around off walls and shooting mobs, the gameplay is just really smooth and fun. When I want to relax and play casually, I play Jetpack.
Jetpack and Trepidation are probably the two best modpacks in this genre, so if you liked one, you’ll like the other.
An insanely fun run-and-gun looter-shooter
A short but very fun modpack. You spawn in the overworld and have to travel to different structures and dimensions to find the 12 eyes from End Remastered. There are some base building and villager managing features but most of the fun comes from speeding through the different dimensions, grappling from building to building, blasting everything down and looting cool stuff to put on your gun.
There’s lore and voice acting in the modpack too. It’s mostly a humorous and childish type of humor which might not be for everyone but it adds a lot of personality to the game.
The pack is highly optimized. It’s recommended to use optifine for some custom textures and other aesthetic things the dev recommended but the performance boost from rubidium is too good to pass up in my opinion. Runs great on my i5-6500. Mobs can spawn in large amounts sometimes which might affect tps.
The game has a couple bugs and unfinished parts, which is normal of a game still in development.
Overall, this is a one-time experience. There’s really nothing else similar to Jetpack Cat. I rarely replay modpacks, but I replay this one a lot. It’s just too much fun.

Truly unlike anything you've played before
If you’re looking for an action focused modpack that provides a genuinely unique experience, I highly recommend going in blind.
Aside from the off the wall and bonkers gameplay it has a level of polish and pristine you don’t see often, it’s the first pack I’d played with voice acting or daily objectives.
Featuring Mr Crayfish’s gun mod and tasking you with killing everything in sight, most notably Lycanite’s Mobs, and fighting through brutally difficult bosses. You’ll be flying around the world with parkour powered hyperspeed trying to manage your ammo and loot structures accross several equaly absurd dimensions looking for the 12 eyes curtesy of End Remastered, it is an absolute blast and I recommend everyone check it out, even if it doesn’t sound like your thing, it is a breath of fresh air that is a near total overhaul of the Minecraft experience.
