TerraFirmaGreg-Modern Reviews
This pack made me actually like GregTech
I started this pack as a meme, given that it contains two of the most notoriously grindy mods, Terrafirmacraft and GregTech. However, I found that I was actually having fun playing this. The version of TFC that is included is made a lot better by many of the addon mods, and tweaks from the packs developers. In past modpacks I’ve played that included GregTech, I dreaded having to actually use it for progression, but its the exact opposite here. Terrafirmacraft is so grindy that getting my first few GT machines was a welcome reprieve. The pack runs super well, and is the first modpack I’ve played that I am able to use shaders on without bricking my computer.
Dropped a star in gameplay because of the food spoilage mechanic. Its base TFC, but I still don’t like it. Dropped a star in aesthetics because there is one track that has a loud screeching sound for some reason, so I had to turn off music.
Progression
TerraFirmaCraft on itself is a very attractive mod, for various reasons. But in my opinion, the TFC endgame is really lacking. TerraFirmaGreg has done a very good job on adding more to the engame, adding GregTech machines. As expected of a GregTech modpack, it is really grindy, but this only makes it a better feeling of acomplishment when concluding your objectives. I personally think that the GT early game in the pack could be a little more forgiving.

Good Pack with Wierd Issues
Played it a bit with my friend on a self-hosted server. Was very impressed that I could have both a server and client open without any major hiccups in performance despite a middling rig. Terrafirmacraft is one of my favorite mods of all time, and this is my first experience with the modern remakes. I must say, I’m very impressed by both the TFC and the TFG devs, they both did wonderful. I’m always glad to see a fairly consistent art direction, and TFG delivers on that pretty well, besides a couple hiccups when transitioning from low-tech to high-tech.
All that however brings me to an issue that I specifically seemed to be having with the modpack, where occasionally my pack would stop working due to a broken mod or I would be unable to connect to my own server due to misaligned mods / kubejs. This was solved by pasting the kubejs scripts in directly from the TFG github, though the fact that this problem occured at all is quite odd. Even more strangely, my co-op partner never experienced the same thing despite playing on the same server and everything. Oh well, atleast the performance was excellent in every other regard.
