This is the definitive backpack mod you will ever need.

Unlike most basic backpack mods that adds basic functionality almost equal to a shulker box, Sophisticated backpack, adds a quite modular backpack that has a ton of functionalities that literally changes the way you see these things works.

For starters, the backpacks are upgradeable, from basic backpacks to copper, then iron, etc, that all adds extra inventory slots. But alongside that, there are certain upgrade slots that you’d notice are within it. Like stack upgrades, making some non-stackable items be stackable and already stackable items have even more max stacks (as long as it’s NBT is the same). Then there are tank upgrades, that stores certain amount of liquid for you, feeding upgrades, so that you don’t need to worry about hunger, magnet upgrades that picks up items from the ground, and so on, and so on.

Now, you’d expect that these all only works when you wear the backpack, if you place it then, it shouldn’t work, right? but… it works even when you place it.

Notice just how many potential that’s opened up by simply having this upgrade feature? from mob farming drop gatherer that also collects experience and stores it for you AND could be integrated to AE2 networks, to an eternal device of self healing where you can stock up as much food, potions, or even a simple storage net that exceeds the capabilities of some other storage mods, or even just anything you can think of.

Just a few backpacks of these in your early game, and you’d never touch shulkers ever again. This is an absolute peak mod especially for almost every modpacks where you wanna play as a nomad or just anything, really. 10/10

Oh, and did i mention, just how good the configurables of this mod is? you can tweak inventory sizes of each types (base, copper, iron, etc) of backpack, how many upgrade slots, etc. 11/10

And did i mention… just how good this mod handles their integration and compatibilities? to be fair on this point, you gotta check it out first, but, the integration is just too good to be real, in fact i do wanna say that some certain curios stat modifying mods, also works with this. That’s insane, you just gotta play with this mod, truly a 12/10

This mod is just amazing, I personally think it can fit into every vanilla+ modpack. The mod fixes the inventory space problem very well and the upgrades are cool too. Maybe on the newer versions of the mod it is a bit worse, but on 1.16.4 it was a cool experience.

Sophisticated Backpacks does what it aims to do and does so well. The textures and models are lovely and fit Minecraft’s aesthetic, there’s a lot of different upgrades to tailor backpacks just how you like, and in particular, making backpacks placeable in-world is a nice touch, making backpacks feel more like real things rather than “magic bag of holding” that many older backpack mods fall into.

My only point of contention is that the sheer number and power of upgrades can occasionally make Sophisticated Backpacks out of place or overpowered, akin to using a bulldozer to dig a garden. The level of customization provided via configs mitigates this issue, but unless you’re willing to take a stab at the configs, other backpack mods can fill specific niches out of the box that Sophisticated Backpacks has to be molded to fit into. This isn’t so much as a complaint so much as a heads-up; Sophisticated Backpacks is not a drag-and-drop backpack mod by any means.

This mod is a worthwhile addition to any and all modpacks it makes exploration and building easier being able to keep everything on you at once

In the astoundingly vast sea of portable storage options, I’ll always recommend Sophisticated Backpacks, they make me feel like an adventuring nomad, provide an absurd utility even as a normal chest, and are more customizable than anyone asked for, with upgrades that go beyond your magnets and getting bigger, but liquid tanks, exp storage, and portable jukeboxes. Cannot recommend this mod enough.

If you’re looking for something just to hold your ludicrous amounts of junk, I’d reccomend Dank Storage and Dank tanks, or Pocket storage.
